Interstellar poster

Interstellar

When I saw Interstellar, felt the connection to 2001: a space odessy, I knew I wanted to do some kind of artwork to go along with it. There is something to Science-Fiction and retro pop-artesque vectorization that I really find interesting, and so, I wanted to translate Interstellar into a piece from that time. Grabbing what I remember of the plot, and taking account of exactly what the objective of this poster was, I set about creating the major focus. Cooper, Brand, the darkness of space, and the light at the end of the tunnel.

After creating the characterization of the main actors in the movie, the objective was to apply them to a similarly styled poster, that would be minimalist so as to attract attention to the illustrations themselves. After a few rounds of scrapped ideas and different approaches, two finals were made, and then one chosen.

The final poster came from the 3rd round of ideas, and with some simple touches and treatment, became the overall "hero" of the idea.

Do not go gentle into that good night; Old age should burn and rave at close of day.

Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
